The Best Way to Connect with Your Kids: Meet Them Where They Are

One of the most powerful ways to connect with your child is by meeting them where they are. As parents, we often fall into the trap of sticking to our roles as the "authority" figure, whether as a parent or a teacher. In doing so, we forget that true connection comes from stepping out of this frame and engaging with our children from their perspective, not ours.

From my personal experience as a parent (rather than as a coach), I’ve realized that we sometimes fail to offer our children what they truly need. Instead, we may give expensive gifts or material things, often motivated by our own desires for approval or to impress others. This can stem from our conditioning as parents—our values and the societal pressures to "keep up" or demonstrate our love through possessions.

However, the most valuable gift you can give your child is your time. Spend quality moments with them. The bond created by simply being present will last a lifetime, forming a deep, magnetic connection that grows naturally and effortlessly. This, in turn, leads to a positive transformation in your child's behavior—one that emerges from love and shared experiences, not material things.

Remember, the greatest gift you can offer is your presence, not your possessions.
